The View from the Mountain top

After being homebound last week getting roofing quotes for a leak that developed over Christmas it was really great to get out today. Vancouver has been socked in the last few days with fog owing to an unusual weather pattern over the south coast. I promised myself that I would get out this week and try to capture some interesting images with the fog as the central theme.

Fog is tricky to photograph. Like snow, if you don't get it right then you can end up with very grey looking fog or snow and lose the details in your image. The trick is to get your exposure from either a neutral tone object within the shot or adjust your exposure manually to compensate usually opening up a stop or so. This is of course the big advantage of digital capture. You can check the result of your compensation instantly and further correct if neccesaray.

Enjoy the image.
